An inside look at Washington DC internships
Washington DC is one of the best cities to intern in. These days, everyone wants a Washington DC internship. DC is a fun place to live for young professionals. There are a lot of government departments in DC to get internships at.
Don’t get discouraged by the price of housing. You don’t have to live in the heart of Georgetown and pay $3000 a month in rent. You can settle on a place somewhere near Georgetown like Foxhall Village or Glover Park. The commute from outside of the city to your job will be easy.
If you get a DC internship and live in DC, you’ll love the public transportation system. The buses and street cars in Washington DC are very efficient.
People with DC internships are set up for a fun summer. You’ll probably find a job you love and have some friends living in the city. There is something to do every night of the week. Also, because there are so many government employees who get off at five o’clock, there are happy hours almost every day.
Wherever you end up this summer, you’ll probably have a good time at a great internship. If you’re not making Washington DC a priority in your internship search, you should. It’s a great experience, both in and out of the office. I haven’t met one person who has not loved their DC internship. Washington DC isn’t as intense as New York City, but it’s just as fun and a lot less stressful. If you’re living in a city for the first time, Washington DC is a great place to start. Good luck in your internship search!
